Lake Balaton and surroundings
Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe, offers many unmissable experiences all year round.
The lake, which covers almost 600 square kilometres, heats up easily in summer, so its gradually deepening shores attract swimmers: the shallow parts of the southern shore are ideal for families with young children, but there are family-friendly beaches on both sides of Lake Balaton where you can try water sports.
FESTETICS CASTLE
One of Hungary's most beautiful monuments, a true baroque architectural masterpiece, Keszthely offers visitors a palm house, a hunting exhibition, a historic model railway exhibition and a huge park, which has been declared a nature reserve.
ADVENTURE PARKS AROUND LAKE BALATON
Admire Lake Balaton from the Gömbilató in Balatonboglár after the family has had a full day of adventures, climbing walls, archery, trampolining and completing the rope and wire course. In Balatonfűzfő, you can have fun on the bobsleigh track all year round, just like on the adventure and sliding tracks in Zamárd. Want to try the only fixed installation roller coaster in the country? Then head to Zalaszabar!
WATER
Take a splash in Europe's largest thermal lake, where you can admire the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside while floating in the medicinal water among the water lilies.
BOATING UNDER THE CITY
Paddle through the tunnels of the Tapolca Iron Cave, carved into the limestone by hundreds of thousands of years of hot and cold karstic water.
BADACSONY WINE TERRACES
For a culinary experience, visit BADACSONY, where a multitude of wine terraces offer breathtaking views of the lake, accompanied by the delicacies of family wineries.
